Position Overview:
- The BI Data Analyst will:Develop and maintain systems for collecting, storing, and analyzing data from various sources within the corrections system.
- Create dashboards and reports that provide insights into Key Performance Indicators such as recidivism rates, program participation and effectiveness, staff turnover, and operational costs.
- Use predictive analytics to identify trends and forecast future challenges within the correctional system.
- Analyze data to recommend optimal resource allocation.
- Collaborate with staff to implement and design the system, ensuring smooth integration of complex datasets.
- Provide regular oral and written reports and project updates.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- The BI Consultant will perform the following tasks:Create data models in BI dashboards
- Develop and maintain a standard Date table
- Provide updates to the Executive Team on Power BI work and progress.
- Conduct KPI research, data gathering, and review scripts
- Refine the data gathering process for KPIs.
- Update grievance metrics with information provided by Subject Matter Experts.
- Create popups for KPI cards.
- Work on data and Power BI development, planning detailed reports.
- Test the security of Power BI.
- Required Experience & Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a similar role.
- Proven experience developing BI solutions using Power BI.
- Strong expertise in data integration, data transformation and loading ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts, including the ability to transform and model data from various sources working with large-scale datasets in cloud environments.
- Hands-on experience with predictive analytics, data modeling, and developing dashboards for executive use.
- Proficiency in documenting processes, creating data dictionaries, and maintaining BI architecture documentation
- Knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and best practices.
- Strong analytical, research, and organizational skills, with impeccable attention to detail.
- Knowledge of SQL and scripting languages Python, Rfor data analysis and automation
- Experience with relational databases such as Informix, PostgreSQL, and understanding data warehouse technologies BigQuery, GCP
- Experience with data warehouse technologies (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP).
- Understanding of regulatory requirements related to data privacy and security, particularly in a government or public service context ? Good understanding of GitHub database version control.
- Ability to test and troubleshoot using appropriate methodologies and techniques.
- Excellent written/verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required.
- Interact with people in a manner that shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
- Familiarity with correctional or public safety systems and understanding of operational metrics specific to the corrections environment
